אני באחד הביקורים בבית הקברות הצבאי, ליד הקבר שלך. תוהה מה התאריך היום ופתאום אני קולטת שהחל מה-9.8.2006 כל יום הוא ה-9.8. כל יום הוא היום שבו התחלת להיות חסר ולכל יום יש את אותה המשמעות: אתה איננו.
אומרים שהורים שכולים לא צריכים תזכורות של ימי זיכרון ואני חושבת כמה שזה נכון.
תמיד אמרתי שכל העם צריך את התזכורת של יום הזיכרון הלאומי חוץ מהמשפחות השכולות – כי עבורי התאריך היחידי שהוא בעל משמעות -. הוא ה-9 באוגוסט 2006. אז, לפני שלוש עשרה שנים, ארע חורבן הבית. ואחרי זה כל יום ויום – הכול חורבן מתמשך.
ויש עוד יום זיכרון אחד שיש לו משמעות והוא יום הזיכרון המשותף, הישראלי פלסטיני. רק מהמקום של השיתוף הזה, של הכבוד שאנחנו – הישראלים והפלסטינים – נותנים כבוד האחד למתיו של האחר – יכול להגיע סיום למאבק הדמים הבלתי-נגמר שבו אתה וכה רבים אחרים נהרגתם.
יום הזיכרון הזה מאורגן כל שנה (גם) על ידי ארגון פורום המשפחות שאליו אני משתייכת. הדבר הכי מהותי שעשיתי היה להצטרף לפורום המשפחות השכולות הישראלי פלסטיני למען פיוס, סובלנות ושלום. לתמוך באירוע כזה, במבצע כזה, זאת הדרך שלי, ילד, להביע את התמיכה שלי בשלום ובפיוס, ואת שאט הנפש שלי ממוות של עוד בנים, כמוך, שמקריבים את חייהם סתם. וזה חייב להיפסק. אני לא אפסיק לתמוך באירועים כאלה, שיקרבו את השלום כדי שזה ייפסק.
